Caldwell man sentenced to five years for road rage murder

A Caldwell man has been sentenced to five years in prison, with an additional ten years indeterminate, for second-degree murder.

Billy Lee Moore of Canyon County, was convicted of the second-degree murder for the shooting death of a man in Caldwell when a road rage incident turned deadly. Moore was seen by witnesses following a Ford F-250 very closely down Highway 20/26 as both drivers exchanged hand signals and gestures.

The driver of the F-250 pulled over in a parking lot, where after a heated exchange, Moore retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and shot the other driver in the face. The man died at the scene, according to court documents.

Moore pled guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea deal, and was sentenced in court on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Moore will spend five years in prison, with an additional 10 indeterminate. He will also have to pay restitution of $8,000 and a $5,000 civil penalty according to court records.
